The U.S. trucking industry is suffering from an unsustainable decline  primarily caused by the presence of freight brokers. Freight brokers capture an excessive portion of freight rates, the fees paid by shippers for transporting goods. This leaves carriers with insufficient funds to cover essential operating costs such as vehicle maintenance, including tires, brakes, and oil changes, as well as other critical safety requirements. The alarming trend of brokers prioritizing profit over industry health is jeopardizing road safety and the long-term viability of the trucking sector (business?)

The trucking industry is hemorrhaging due to a perfect storm of challenges. Predatory tow companies, exploitative factoring firms, exorbitant maintenance costs, scarce truck stop parking, undertrained DOT officers, litigious attorneys, and burdensome regulations are draining resources from carriers. Ultimately, these issues disproportionately impact drivers and their families, who sacrifice immense amounts of time away from loved ones to sustain livelihoods in an industry stacked against them. It is imperative that we unite to address these critical problems and create a more equitable and sustainable environment for the trucking industry.
